While walk-ins can often be accommodated, appointments are preferred to ensure that you will be seen and to avoid a prolonged wait. Please call ahead of time to schedule an appointment. Emergencies will be accommodated and, when possible, calling ahead is best. If an appointment is not available, a drop-off appointment can be made for an extra day care fee. In this case, you may drop off your pet for the day. As soon as it is feasible, the doctor will perform an examination on your pet and will call you with the results and treatment recommendations.
Oak Park Veterinary Hospital accepts checks, cash, VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. Payment is due when services are rendered. We also offer CareCredit which provides a 6 month same-as-cash interest-free payment plan (please call our office for details).
Returned Checks: Please note that a $25.00 fee is charged for all returned checks.
Medical Insurance For Pets
Many pet owners are not aware that medical insurance is available for their pets. Given the expense sometimes incurred by owners whose pets develop serious or prolonged illnesses and injuries, we recommend that pet insurance be considered. The following companies (listed in alphabetical order) are all of the ones we know of that offer pet medical insurance. Other pet insurance providers may exist. Oak Park Veterinary Hospital does not have any affiliation with any of these providers and we do not endorse any one company over the others. We encourage you to call each company and evaluate which one has the policy that best suits your individual needs.
Although Oak Park Veterinary Hospital is not open 24 hours a day, emergency care is available after hours, on Sundays, and on holidays by means of our local emergency facilities. These facilities are open when we are closed, thus ensuring that medical care for your pet is always available.
If your pet has an immediate after hours emergency, you should contact:
Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center of Thousand Oaks
2967 North Moorpark Road
one block north of Avenida de Los Arboles
Thousand Oaks, CA 91360
(Advanced Critical Care, Emergency & Speciality Services)
20051 Ventura Blvd., Suite 1
one block east of Winnetka Avenue
Woodland Hills, CA 91364
For a less urgent after hours emergency, you may page one of our doctors by calling (818) 851-0447 and following the instructions given by the voice mail. Our doctors are not always available by pager. Therefore, if your page is not returned within 15 minutes, you should contact one of the emergency facilities mentioned above or call us during our regular office hours. Please note that the doctors’ pager is turned off during regular business hours, therefore do not call the pager number when the hospital is open.

Welcome to the Oak Park Veterinary Hospital web site.
Oak Park Veterinary Hospital was founded in 1994 by Dr. Gena Broussard and Dr. Thomas Cole. Both doctors are 1988 graduates of the University of California at Davis School of Veterinary Medicine.
Drs. Broussard and Cole are active members of the American Veterinary Medical Association, California Veterinary Medical Association, and Santa Barbara-Ventura Veterinary Medical Association. We are a privately owned full-service hospital providing medical care for dogs and cats. As a general practice and primary care facility, we provide services in most areas of veterinary medicine including routine examinations, vaccinations, spaying and neutering, flea control, parasitology, internal medicine, intensive/critical care, cardiology, dermatology, ophthalmology, dental care, orthopedics, and surgery. Additionally, we also utilize the expertise of local board-certified specialists in surgery, ophthalmology, dermatology, cardiology, internal medicine, neurology, radiology/ultrasound, nuclear medicine, oncology, and exotic animal medicine. By use of our services and, when needed, collaboration with these specialists, we can help pets with both simple and complicated medical problems.
